
Jefferson, Grand Junction and Scranton voters will see ballot races for their respective city councils in the Nov. 4 city/school election. The deadline for filing nominating petitions was Sept. 16. County auditor Billie Jo Hoskins on Thursday released the names of candidates who met the filing deadline.
Jefferson voters will elect three council members at-large for four-year terms. On the ballot are Harry Ahrenholtz, Sue Bose, Eric Carlson, Paul Hostetler, Darren Jackson and Luke Winkelman. Incumbent Pat Zmolek is not seeking re-election.
In Grand Junction, voters will also elect three council members at-large for four-year terms. Running are Mason Berry, Zachary Dearborn, Jamie Ramey, Bryce Stevens, Jac Strabley and John L. Thompson. No incumbents are seeking re-election to the council. Jason McDowell is running for mayor.
In Scranton, two at-large seats on the council will be on the ballots, with candidates Annette Brown, Curt Dudley, Brenna Vauble and Caden J. Wilson. Voters will also elect a council member to fill a vacancy, with Clayton Dudley the only candidate running for that position.
In Churdan, candidates for four-year terms are John McCormick and Mary Vogel. Voters will also elect a council person to fill a vacancy, with Roger Lavoie and Garrett Riedesel running for that position. Curt Miltner is running unopposed for a two-year term as mayor.
Dana voters will elect two persons to four-year terms on the council. Candidates are Anthony Sims and Christopher Vargas. They’ll also elect a council member to fill a vacancy, with Michael S. McClanahan the ballot candidate. Mandy Sims is running for re-election to a two-year term as mayor.
In Paton, mayor Steve Burrell is not opposed for another two-year term. Diane Hanlon and Zach Schweers are running for four-year terms on the council, with two positions available.
Finally, in Rippey Shannon Lawrence is running unopposed for a two-year term as mayor. No candidates filed nomination papers for two four-year terms on the council. Charles R. Mundy is running to fill a vacancy on the council.
